What do you mean by Legal Aid?

Legal aid is nothing but a free legal service for the welfare and promotion of the people. It is the right of an individual to ask for legal aid if they are not able to afford that
The main aim of the Indian Constitution is to secure its people of the Indian Justice that is both socio economic and political approach. There are two Articles that are written by the constitution of India in this respect they are Article 38 and 39A. Article 38 states that the State shall promote the welfare of its people just by securing and protecting the social order which includes the justice. And as per the Article 39A of the constitution, each and every state, in particular, should provide a free legal aid in India with the help of a suitable scheme. This will help to ensure that each and everyone have an equal opportunity and justice is not denied to any individual.

Obstacles to the legal Assistance
You will be shocked to know that at present the legal aid movement in India is not at all organized. You can say that it is due to the lack of coordination. The proposed idea of equal access along with the availability of legal justice has reached almost to the breakdown point. Moreover, there exists a wide difference between the goals that are set and met. During a recent survey, we got a comment from a law firm that they no longer do the pro bono work; instead, they are too busy trying to survive.

Measures for the effective Legal Aid
There are certain measures which must be followed for the effective legal Aid in India. They are:
The movement of the legal aid should reach the root level and should also help to discover, identify and solve the problems of the poor.
With the help of the NGO’S, you must spread the legal awareness and should also educate people about their basic right.
